Flora Mae Kelly

Sunrise: January 29, 1946

Sunset: October 4, 2019
Supported by the loving prayers of her family, on October 4th, 2019 Flora Lassiter Kelly, age 73, was called home to Our Lord. Affectionately known as “Joker”, Flora Mae Lassiter was born on January 29, 1946 in Chesapeake, Virginia to Robert and Louise Odom Lassiter, and was preceded in death by her husband Leroy Kelly, siblings Martha Owens and Robert Lassiter Jr., nephew Michael Lassiter and niece Elane Lassiter Guishard.
Flora was a dedicated mother, first and foremost.  She tirelessly worked various jobs throughout her life to provide for her daughter Debora, whom she treasured. In time she proved to be one of those  “doting grandmothers”, and came to especially love her role as “Mimi” to her three great-grandsons, embracing every moment with them.   Flora was also generous with her personal time, volunteering as a Salvation Army Bell-Ringer during many Christmas seasons, and those who shared her senior apartment complex considered her their own “Flora Nightingale”  as she was always providing assistance to those less able than herself.
Left to cherish her precious memories are her loving daughter, Debora Parham (Michael) of Virginia Beach; her sister Helen O’Neil (William) of Norfolk; three grand-children Rasheed Parham, Raphael Parham, and Raven Parham, all of Virginia Beach; three great-grandchildren Sebastian, Kaelem and Evander, thirteen nieces and nephews, and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
