Faith Johnson McCloud was called by the Triune God on April 15, 2022 and peacefully passed away from her earthly home in Norfolk, VA to her eternal home in glory with God. She was born and grew up with her siblings and parents, the late William Matthews and Reva Gordon Matthews, in New Orleans, LA.
Faith attended the public schools, and then completed her Bachelor of Arts in Social Work at Loyola University and Master of Social Work (MSW) at Tulane University, all in New Orleans, LA. She later completed certification and licensure at the graduate level in 1986 to practice independently as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) specializing in mental health with children, adolescents, families, adults, geriatrics and chronically mentally ill populations.
To their joy, Faith met a classmate, Neil Tyrone McCloud, when they were graduate students at Tulane. Two years later, after earning her MSW, she married Neil and they settled in Norfolk. They were members of and raised their children in Messiah Presbyterian Church. They have a daughter and two sons as well as two grandchildren whom they showered with love and affection.
A committed and dedicated professional, Faith began by working for two years in New Orleans public schools and was then employed by several agencies in Hampton Roads VA for thirty-eight years (until the last few weeks of her life) meeting individuals and families at their points of need in the social services. She pledged Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and was a member of her professional organizations.
With deep sorrow and abundant love, Faith is remembered by her husband Neil Tyrone McCloud; daughter, Reva McCloud Cobb, Clayton,NC; sons, Aaron Matthew McCloud, Kaiserslauten, Germany and Cameron Mychal McCloud, Norfolk, VA; grandchildren Sydney Maryee Cobb and Dallas Amir Cobb of Clayton, NC; mother Reva Gordon Matthews, New Orleans, LA; siblings Cynthia Gordon (Douglas) Miller, Virginia Beach, VA and Bruce Johnson, New Orleans LA. Also sharing love and many memories are other family members as well as many colleagues and friends.
