Evelyn Beatrice “Bea” Saunders Nicholes

Mrs. Evelyn Beatrice “Bea” Saunders Nicholes slipped quietly into her eternal rest on June 21, 2022 in her home.

Bea was born January 27, 1936 in Norfolk County, now Chesapeake, VA to the late Willie and Cherry Saunders. She joined New Light Baptist church at a young age where she served as an usher and a missionary. In recent years, she became a faithful member of Greater Bethel A. M.E. Church. While attending Greater Bethel A.M.E., she was an usher and missionary. She was also named Mother of the Year and recognized by the mayor. Bea started working  for Chesapeake Public Schools Food Services in 1964 until she retired in 2004.

Bea was predeceased by her loving husband Eugene Nicholes, Jr., her son, Harry Lee Saunders, 8 siblings: Mildred Hunter, June Saunders, Ethel Harrell, Robert Saunders, Sr. Elbert Saunders, Melvin Saunders, Hubert Saunders, and Willie Saunders, Jr. She leaves to cherish her memory: 3 sons: Eugene (Lucille) Nicholes III , Juan (Lisa) Saunders, & Ferris Nicholes;  1 sister, Shirley Munden; 5 grandsons: Eric Saunders, Dustin Saunders, Lamar Gilchrist, Devin Saunders, Sr. & Jaun Saunders, Jr;  7 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews,  cousins, and close friends.
