Ethel Gregory

Sunrise: July 12, 1926

Sunset: June 13, 2022

Ethel Virginia Gregory, affectionately known as “Mother” and “Nana”, was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world quietly on June 13, 2022, at the age of 95.

Ethel was born to the late David Fagan and Harriet Jones on July 12, 1926 in Camden, NC. Ethel met her husband, the late Claude Gregory, and together they had 11 children: Ethel Faye Sutton, William Gregory (preceded in death), Claude Gregory (preceded in death), James Gregory (Carol), Margaret Sharpe (Willie), Brenda Gregory, Deborah White, Charlotte Gregory, Albert Gregory, Donald Gregory (Robin), and Cheryl Roberts (James). She is also remembered, with love, by a host of grandchildren, great- grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Ethel enjoyed outdoor gardening and took pride in keeping an immaculate yard. She loved creating delicious meals for her family and baking desserts; a passion that spilled over into her line of work. Throughout the years when the children attended college, their friends would often gather around her table to enjoy her home cooked meals. She was also an active member of Olive Branch Missionary Baptist Church.

When she wasn’t working, cooking, and taking care of her family, her leisure time was spent on the phone enjoying conversations with her friends, Beatrice Hill, Norma Norfleet (preceded in death), and Rose Perry (preceded in death).

I’m deeply saddened by the passing of Ms. Ethel. I have only fond memories of her, Mr
Claude and the children. My favorite is eating biscuits in their backyard on Tatum Lane. I smile everytime I think about it. Ms. Ethel was so kind and easy to talk to. I will truly miss her. Take care family. She was a wonderful mother, lady, and friend.

My condolences to the Gregory Family. It was always a pleasure to see Ethel and her family members that accompanied her on Mother’s Day at New Shiloh. Of course, she was always beautifully dressed. I was excited to get to her as soon as the service was over. She had such a
sweet personality and loved to communicate wth others. Family, God blessed you with a wonderful mother, grandmother. great grandmother, and etc. and he will continue to bless each of you.
    Love you! β™₯️
