Esther Ulloa Whitehead

Sunrise: September 15, 1938

Sunset: May 2, 2019

Esther Ulloa Almonte Whitehead was born September 15, 1938 in Altamira, Dominican Republic to the late Santiago Ulloa and Mercedes Almonte. She is predeceased by her husband, Lonnie P. Whitehead, Sr. (1SG, US Army Ret.); a step-son, Lonnie P. Moore; a brother, Humberto Arias and a sister, Dorcas M. Arias. She graduated from Old Dominion University with a BS Degree in Education in 1988. She was a member of Cedars of Lebanon Seventh Day Adventist Church where she served as a faithful Deaconess. Esther was also one of the Charter members of the Hampton Roads Hispanic SDA church. She was also part of the Bible Study Ministry with Amazing Facts. She loved the Lord and loved to share His love, grace, mercy, and sacrifice with others. She was a quiet, reserved, soft spoken woman, but when she spoke she had great words of wisdom and you wanted to “listen up”. She was compassionate and always giving. Our mom loved to read, write, and garden. She gave of her time, her finances, and the clothes off her back to others. Esther would literally send huge barrels filled to the brim with items of all kind to the very poor in her home country, Dominican Republic. Esther was a beautiful soul, inside and out. She loved her family with all her heart.

She is survived by her children Wanda Lopez of Orlando, FL; Yolanda Davis (Gordon) of Virginia Beach; Jacqueline Duckson (Nelson) of Ft. Stewart, GA; Ivah Mitchell (Gerald) of Williamsburg; Lonnie Whitehead II of Alexandria, VA; a step-daughter, Jetter Eason (Otis) of North Carolina. Also, five siblings, David S. Ulloa, Noemi Ulloa, Milagros Ulloa, Isabel Ulloa and Victor Arias. Also, special nieces, Amy Hunter, Birmania Guerrero and Nancy Humphrey; a special cousin/sister Elba Moretta. Also, nine grandchildren, Gregorio Vazquez, Estrella Rivera, Diego Tate, G. Christopher Davis Jr., Ariana Davis, Nicholas Davis, Gavin Mitchell, Gabrianna Mitchell, and Victor Whitehead; other grandchildren, Derrick A. Moore, Karen Daily, Lonnie L. Moore, Joey Moore, Michael Moore-Storrs, Tamico Burton, Maya and James Duckson; two great-grandchildren, Alexia and Julian Vazquez and a host of beloved family and friends
