Ester Virginia Gibson was called home on November 6, 2024, leaving a legacy of faith, service, and warmth. Born in Portsmouth, Virginia, to the late Mable and Charlie Lee, Ester embodied strength and compassion. She was predeceased by her brothers, Charlie Lee Jr. and Amonese Lee, who, along with her parents, now welcome her into eternal rest.
Ester graduated from I.C. Norcom High School and soon after began working as a custodian at Westhaven School, where she served diligently for 32 years before her well-earned retirement. Her work ethic and dedication touched the lives of countless students and colleagues.
From an early age, Ester was introduced to the Lord and remained devoted throughout her life. A lifelong member of Third Baptist Church, she gave tirelessly of herself, serving on Usher Ministry #2, Mt. Hermon Ministry, feeding the hungry, and teaching both Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Her faith and love for her community were the cornerstones of her life.
Ester’s warmth extended beyond her faith and work. She loved cooking, especially grilling outdoors, and had a special joy for planting flowers and shopping. Her heart was full of love and kindness, which she shared generously with family and friends.
She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved son, Reginald Jones; her three sisters, Eunice Helm, Goldie Scoggins, and Anna Jean Roberts; her grandchildren, Reginald Jones Jr. and Passion N. Jones; four great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a special daughter, Barbara Ervin; her buddy and dear friend, Lillian Vincent and host of family and friends. Ester’s legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and friends who will forever treasure her.

November 11, 2024 at 10:46 amMay the family find comfort in their FAITH, at such a time as this!! We were blessed to be around Mr. Eddie and Ms. Virginia in our youth, as they were good friends of our parents Billy/Nina Ratcliffe. We do know that to be ” Absent In The Body Is To Be Present With The Lord”

November 19, 2024 at 5:49 pmI was saddened to learn of the passing of Ms. Virginia. She was such a pleasant person all my life. I pray that the Lord will bless and keep her family and friends as they cherish the pleasant memories. I especially pray for her sisters and the love they shared for the wellbeing of one another.
Allow God to comfort and keep you today and in days to come, just as He has done in the past.
