On the night of July 11, 2019, the Lord called Estelle Rouse Maye to rest. Mrs. Estelle was born in Green County, North Carolina. The daughter of Walter Rouse and Allie Jane Barnes Rouse. The middle child of six children. She attended elementary school in North Carolina. She moved to Norfolk, VA after marrying the now late Jesse Maye. Estelle sold cosmetics for a few years and worked in assisted living for four years and then later became a housekeeper for many
years for the Holiday Inn. Estelle was a saved woman who loved the Lord with all her heart and soul. She was very outspoken and straight forward.
She was predeceased by her siblings Emmitt Lee Rouse, Letha Bele McFarland, Willie Williams Rouse, Roosevelt Rouse and Mary L. Rouse Ward. Out of seven children, two are deceased, Nadine Barnett (Melvin) and Linwood Maye. She
leaves to cherish her memories five children, Lillian Carson Warren (Gary) Rose Mary Bradley (James), Forug Rashied
“James Earl” (Wife), Jessie Maye, Jr. and Gary W. Maye; 16 grandchilren and many great and great great grandchildren
and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, relatives and friends.
Estelle’s church home was Holy Temple, Good Shepard. She loved her leaders, Apostles L. Harris and Serena Harris. She
will be missed and forever in our hearts.
