Erma Jean Taylor was born on March 8, 1961, to the late Clarence and Daisy Taylor, in Norfolk, Virginia. The Lord welcomed Jean into the Kingdom of Heaven on Saturday, July 3, 2021. Jean, as she was passionately called by her family and friends. was reared in Norfolk, Virginia and attended Lake Taylor High School. Jean had a strong passion and love for helping people as she dedicated her career to working in the service and hospitality industry for many decades.
Jean lived a vibrant easy going life with her family and truly loved her family dearly as she treasured being the matriarch. Family came first in her life but God was always the head of her life. Jean having a heart for people could always be seen and heard instilling words of affirmation and encouragement to her family, friends and even people she often first met. Jean’s most encouraging quotes were, “lean and depend on God” and “God knows best.”
Jean having a heart of gold was always happy, cheerful and was a strong faithful warrior. During her illness, she never complained; she remained positive and optimistic staying steadfast in the Lord…..what a remarkable woman! Jean was always eager and willing to help anyone in need….this was our precious rare gem. Her joyful laughter and great sense of humor will be truly missed, but her sweet sweet spirit and wonderful presence will forever remain in our hearts.
Jean was preceded in death by her fiancé’, Cleveland Bullock; parents, Clarence and Daisy Taylor; grandparents, Lee and Ruby Richardson; and sister, Dora Doles. Jean’s memory will be cherished in the hearts of her two loving children, Dominick Taylor (Heather) and Tiffany Rochez (Nello) both of Norfolk, VA; siblings, Arthur Taylor, Diane Wilson and Carolyn Harrison (Clarence) all of Virginia Beach, VA, Laura Neville and Clarence Taylor, Jr. all of Norfolk, VA and Ruby Redd (Antonio) of Fredericksburg, VA; granddaughters, Amiyah Taylor, Adrianna Brown, Jahanny Rochez, Amira Taylor and Layla Rochez, all of Norfolk, VA; grandsons, Diddier Rochez, Dominick Taylor, Jr., Devon Taylor, and Mayson Rochez all of Norfolk, VA and a host of other cherished family and friends.
