Elder Ephraim Thomas Goodman, Sr. departed this life on December 1, 2024, in Suffolk, Virginia. He was blessed to be 90 years old, with a mind to continue steadfastly in the will of God.
At an early age, he was baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and filled with the holy ghost. God called him into the ministry at an early age, and he pastored under the late Bishop S.C. Johnson for many years. He later met his wife, Gloria B. Goodman, during a fellowship service with Bishop Brown, where he later joined in. During the mid-seventies, he began the Glorious Church of the Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith and pastored there until his earthly pilgrimage ended. For over 55 years, he traveled between Roper, North Carolina, Pocomoke City, Maryland, Wilmington, Delaware, and various other locations throughout the United States. He loved to encourage the people of God and point the world towards the gospel of our lord and savior, Jesus Christ. He visited prison nursing homes, gave to those in need, was a listening ear, and was a counselor to many. He cherished and nurtured his spiritual sons and daughters with love, kindness, and understanding. He always had a heart for the people of God. He was especially grateful for those in the body of our lord and savior, Jesus Christ.
Elder Goodman was an “outdoorsman” and raised his family by working as a logger for many years. Later in life, he started a trucking and demolition company. He passed along this entrepreneurial spirit to several of his children. He taught his children to work hard and put God first in life.
Survivors include five daughters, Lillie, Naomi, Martha, Dorsha, and Rachel Goodman. Three sons, Ephraim Jr., Micah, and Aeneas Goodman. One brother, Amos Goodman, and one sister, Mary C. Rogers. Eight grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Goodman, wife, Gloria B. Goodman, daughter, Agnes Goodman, brother, John Goodman, four sisters, Claudia, Addie, Agnes, and Doris.
We, the family, are thankful for calls, texts, visits, and cards received during this time.
