Elijah Rahim Chavis was born to Charlene Chavis and Jimmy Forston, on June 10, 1993 in Portsmouth, Virginia. He received his education from Portsmouth Public Schools and was a graduate of I.C. Norcom High School. Elijah received a certificate from the Fatherhood Mentoring Program as an advocate for supporting fathers.
Elijah was a warm-hearted and family-oriented father, son, and brother. He filled family and friends with lively spirits when his presence arose in the room. Greatly recognized for his smile, personality, sense of humor and his favorite expression, “I luh you”. Elijah’s memories and personal moments will be remembered and manifested throughout the hearts of many to last forever.
He leaves to cherish his memory his parents, Charlene and Jimmy; his children: Emoni and Shaheem; grandparents, Cecil and Clarine Coston; three brothers: Kaseem, Jeffery and Kaseem; six sisters: Malkia (Ray), Shermayne, Hannah, Shaquana, Sackeema and Tracy Fortson and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Edgar and Mary Fortson and brother, Esau Fortson. He also leaves his special friend Sade Porter and a favorite cousin Veneshia (Mookie).
