Elijah Anderson nicknamed “June,” went to join the heavenly father on June 1, 2024.

Elijah was born in Lynchburg, South Carolina on June 2, 1950, to Elijah Anderson Sr. and Mae Roland. Elijah’s life was defined by his love for family, close friends, and most importantly, Christ.

Elijah graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in Elliott, SC in 1968. In May 1973 , he received his Bachelor of Arts degree where he majored in Psychology. While at Benedict, he joined the fraternity, Omega Psi Phi, Epsilon, Epsilon chapter. After Benedict, Elijah moved to New York where he worked for various companies including Orkin and the State of New York. In 1978, Elijah decided to pack up and move to Hampton, Virginia. These awards included United Insurance Co. of America District#206 Sales Representative awards, several Presidential Club awards with both Kemper Life and United Insurance Company of America UI, the Olympic Club Gold Award, and the Kemper Life Finish Strong Sales Campaign award. Elijah continued to work for Kemper for approximately 40 years until the time of his death.

Elijah loved traveling, listening to music, and watching his favorite team, Washington Commanders play football. He could take charge of a room with his laughter, humor, and wisdom. His love for communicating often had many labeling Elijah as a “lady’s man.” Elijah was kind to everyone and always had a giving spirit. His insurance clients spoke very highly of him with many saying he was a “great man who will be truly missed.”

Elijah was one of a kind, I loved arguing with him about sports, politics work and anything he had an opinion of. He was very straightforward, he liked who he liked, and avoided those he didn’t., When he said something funny, he would laugh so hard anyone listening would automatically laugh. To his family I Pray God will give you all PEACE during this most difficult time. Elijah will be truly missed,

I had the pleasure of meeting and working with Elijah 5/1995 at United Insurance Co now Kemper. He was hands down one of the hardest working, and most beloved agents of his generation. I went on several Co trips with Elijah and shared laughs and lasting memories. I use to call him Big “E” which was representative of his long and productive career.
May the God of the Bible give the family peace. See 2Corinthians 1:3-5.

Mr. Elijah was my insurance agent for a significant period of time, he would regularly reach out to remind me about my payments, showing his genuine care. His compassion was unparalleled. To the Anderson and Wright family,
June was a dear friend. We dated in high school. We also went to Benedict College and graduated in the class of 1973. Our friendship lasted for many years. Our last visit after not seeing each other for thirty years was great. He was still June and I was still Harriett. I started calling him Elijah like the rest of my classmates at Benedict College. He had a wonderful personality. He was himself and didn’t try to be a copy of anyone else.
I pray that God will give to each of you His comfort and His peace.
    Love, Harriett
