Eley Roman Stagg, Jr.

Eley R. Stagg Jr (EJ) was born April 25, 1952 in Suffolk, VA.  Eley was the oldest of five children to the late Eley R. Stagg Sr. and Pearl L. Stagg.

Eley was educated in Suffolk Public School System and graduated from John F. Kennedy High School. From a young age he loved music and singing, he had the sound of Smokey Robinson. He was a part of the local neighborhood group called The Oakdale’s also known as The OD’s.

He met the Love of his life Angie at the age of 14 and she was 12 years old, they married on February 3, 1973.  What a Beautiful Life and Love shared for 58 years and married for 52 years.

Eley was a Dedicated Employee of The City of Chesapeake where he worked in the Storm Water Department, he was also a mentor and father figure to many. After many years of service, he retired on September 1, 2023.

Eley was a Die Hard Dallas Cowboys and Boston Celtics Fan.  No matter when you would see EJ he would have something on showing support for his favorite teams.

Eley’s life and memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those who loved him; his devoted wife Angelia; his mother Pearl L. Stagg, his children LaTonya (Nelson), Eley (Tonya), LaShonda and Marvina. He leaves two siblings to Cherise his life sister Ida and brother Everett. He was proceeded in death by two brothers Rickey and Henry. Eleven Grandchildren, Trey, Tiara, Terrell, Jaelan, Taylor, Parker, Hunter, Deshun, DeAngelo, Dekyra, and Devon. Fourteen Great Grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
