Eleanor D. Shaw

Sunrise: March 11, 1955

Sunset: February 12, 2025

Our mother, Eleanor Delois Shaw, transitioned peacefully on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at Sentara Heart Hospital. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and, most of all, a faithful servant of the Most High God!

Losie, as called by those who knew her, was born on March 11, 1955, to Katie Shaw and Leo Cheek. She was a faithful, hardworking employee for the City of Chesapeake for over 20 years. Our mother was a member of Solid Rock Apostolic Holiness Church for over 30 years, during which she served as a missionary. Her love for her family, church, and Pastor Irene Moore was only second to her love for God. She cherished the noon-day prayers and delivering food to those in the neighborhood. Her green van was probably more recognized than the mail truck. Many counted on the blessings of food from the church she would bring. Of all the life lessons she taught us, the one that will forever be in our hearts is to love the Lord and serve Him in spirit and truth.

Her witty humor kept those around her laughing and made her a joy. Those who knew her could honestly say she was one of the sweetest people you could ever meet. She had a big heart and opened her home to many. Most of all, she was willing to share the love of God and His Gospel truth.

Preceded in death by her mother, Katie Shaw; Father, Leo Cheek, and Jackie Moye, Jr. She leaves to cherish her memories; children: Tonya Brown (Andre), Antonio Shaw, Lakesha Moye (Jackie), and Katrina James (Willie). Grandchildren: DeAndre Brown (Allela), Elvita Crisp ( Billy), Daquan Shaw, Dazana Ford (Matthew), Darion Brown, Shantayza Lyle (Jaron), Tairon Brown, Trevon Brown, Jeremiah Hughes, Joi Brown, Antonio Shaw, Jr., Dazhan Shaw, Kallie James, Johntae Moye, Zhamari Shaw, Jalonie Coleman, Jaliyah Hubbard, Tavares Hubbard, Malik Shaw, and T’hiri Stokey. Great grandchildren: Bryson Evans, Levi Shaw, Connor Brown, Mackenzie Shaw, Neveah Ford, Joesph Ford, Carson Brown, Naomi Ford, Cameron Brown, Revan Lyle, Joy Ford, Mya Shaw, Jabari Shaw, and Itty Bitty Shaw. Siblings: Wanda Boykin, William Shaw, Gwendolyn Shaw, Gloria Shaw, and Stanley Shaw (Janet). As well as a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and brothers and sisters in Christ of Solid Rock Apostolic Holiness Church.

Ma will be deeply missed, but we will take comfort in knowing that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord (I Corinthians 5:8).
