Edward Cuffee Sr. was born on July 8, 1939. He was born in Chesapeake, VA to the late James Cuffee and Hattie Sivels.
He was employed with the City of Virginia Beach for 37 years with the Public Works Department until he retired. He met and married the love of his life Angelina; from this union, they had 9 children. He was a devoted member of the New Pleasant Valley Baptist Church where he served as a trustee up until his departure.
He enjoyed family vacations and looked forward to them each year. He enjoyed taking long drives, and whenever in Florida you could count on him to get anywhere in Orlando. Edward could throw down in the kitchen and was known to fry some of the best fish you had ever tasted in your life. He loved to do work around the church and in his house after he retired. He was a sharp dresser and expert on men’s fragrances. While many considered him a quiet giant, his family and those who knew him well understood that he had a great sense of humor. While he received no formal training, Edward was gifted in the area of business and finance. Edward’s favorite scripture was Psalm 23 “The Lord is my Shepherd I shall not want”
On Wednesday morning April 1, 2020, Edward answered God’s Call and peacefully transitioned from labor to reward. Edward was preceded in death by his parents James Cuffee and Hattie Sivels; two sons Gary Cuffee and Darren Cuffee; One Grandson Michael Blanchard Jr.; Two Son-in-Laws Oscar Gray Sr. and Willie Austin Jr.; four brothers Richard Cuffee, William Sivels, Anderson Cuffee, and Joshua Cuffee; four sisters Zilphia Haynes, Mettie Gordon, Doreathea Cuffee, and Fannie Sutton.
