July 31, 2019 at 2:53 pmI was a student of Dr. Harrison B. Wilson, Jr., in the 90’s. Dr. Wilson made all of his students feel equally loved and cared for. He taught me the importance of community volunteering. I remember his quick wit and sense of humor. He would often share stories of his family. Students would arrive late for class (sometimes with crying children), and he would greet them with a smile, or entertain the crying child, as though he did not hear the disruption, and even though children were not allowed in classrooms. My deepest sympathy to you and your family. I truly feel blessed and honored that Dr. Harrison B. Wilson, Jr., was a part of my life.

July 31, 2019 at 10:50 pmI was blessed to work with Dr. Wilson as his secretary after he retired and returned to NSU for a short time as the President Emeritus. While working with Dr. Wilson, he would talk about the value of education and encouraged me to go back to college. My memories of Dr. Wilson is the stories about him growing up in New York and his family. My condolences to the Wilson family.

His presence at Norfolk State University accounted for an immense growth of respect for the HBCU in society, athletics, and academics. August 1, 2019 at 5:09 pmTo the Family: You have the condolences of my family. Although I’ve only met Dr. Wilson a few times while working with his son, the late Richard Wilson, Dr. Wilson always made me feel like family. To April and the rest of the family, I will be praying for comfort and peace at this time. Keep your eyes to the skies from which all your help will come from.

August 1, 2019 at 10:45 pmI am sorry to hear about the passing of your loved one, Dr. Harrison B. Wilson, Jr. He was President of Norfolk State University during the first 6 years (1991-1997) of my 25 years (1991-2016) of service, at NSU. Many of the sound practices established during his tenure (1977-1997), as President, continued to serve the University well, after his retirement in 1997. He was a great leader. It was a pleasure to have known him and worked with him. May God continue to bless the entire Family, during this time of loss. (Dr. Archie W. Earl, Sr., Former Norfolk State University Faculty Senate President)

August 3, 2019 at 5:22 pmCondolences to the family of Dr Wilson, prayers, and love for you all. I will always appreciate and be thankful the chance given to me and my family. I was on the brink of failing my persuit of my educational goal. It was a struggle being a single parent, but my goal to make things better for my self and family was what I wanted most. I was on academic probation several times during my pursuit. My last attempt, I was ready to quit, but Mrs W Cornnic told me to talk to Dr Wilson myself, and hear what he says. He gave sound advice, told me to decided right then and there , what I wanted out of life, that working hard to acheive my goals weighted on my shoulders to give my family a better life. I chose to better myself, He approved my paperwork and said, that he was gonna trust me to not fail at his decision. He said, more important not to fail myself. I worked hard, made it my mission to achieve my Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and a Master’s Degree in Accounting/Taxation, and to become the first of my family to graduate from a University. I am so thankful for Dr Wilson’s faith and belief in all of us pursuing and achieving our educational goals. NSU will always forever be in my heart. I raised my children with the same educational goal sets. I still have that letter taking me off probation as a life lesson. God bless you !!
