September 15, 2023 at 8:21 amI would like to send my condolences to both the Poarch and Hagans families. Dr. Hagans was my first director when I worked for NPS at the School Administration building from 2000-2004. At that time I was a 19-year-old girl and Dr. Hagans took a chance on me as the Admin Assistant for Compensatory Education Programs. She was also the first person to introduce me to Godiva chocolates. She will definitely be missed.

September 16, 2023 at 2:12 pmGloria Hagans was the supervisor of social studies for Norfolk Public Schools when I started my 32 year social studies Norfolk teaching career. Her early influence was welcoming and inspiring to me.When I would encounter her after she left that position we enjoyed updating on our lives. In 2018, Gloria encouraged me to join the Norfolk Sister Cities Association. This was a great reunion for me to be able to work with Gloria again. My life has been a little richer for having this Phenomenal Woman, Gloria Hagans on my path.

September 17, 2023 at 6:26 pmI was so sadden to hear of Gloria’s passing. My prayers go out to your family. I met Gloria through Lawada. Gloria welcomed others with open arms and a warm embrace. She made you feel like you were a part of the family. Gloria encouraged me to get involved with NSCA and AIL. I had the opportunity to get to know her more over the years. I’ve missed our talks over coffee and pastries. I will miss her!
Praying for the family, that the LORD will comfort, strengthen and give each of you peace in this difficult time.
