Dorothy Mae Coefield was born on July 29, 1933, in Newport News, VA. Dorothy is predeceased in death by her parents, Sandy and Cornelius W. Coefield, and two sisters, Vivian Stevenson and Sara C. Rodgers.
She is survived by her sister Sandra Cofield of Portsmouth, VA, and other family members that she loved dearly.
She was a 1951 graduate of Our Lady of Victory School in Portsmouth, VA. She retired as an LPN from Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
Dorothy loved to travel with family and friends. She enjoyed watching sports like football, basketball, and tennis. Also, she liked listening to her favorite shows on her radio. Dorothy loved reading, and she always had a newspaper, a book, or a magazine close by.
A golden smile has ceased. As a family, we will accept God’s plan for her.
Goodbye, Dorothy. We, the family, will miss you. The family that prays together will stay together.

September 19, 2024 at 9:28 pmOn September 3, 2024, the oldest matriarch of the Wheeler/Cofield families relinquished her earthly throne and crown to unite with family members who have gone on before her at the great reunion around the throne of God.
Family reunions won’t be the same without you Cousin but we will go on knowing that you will be there in the spirit.
You fought a good fight in the mist of your declining health never yielding to give up the race because Jesus was waiting for you at the finishing line. We love you Cousin Dorothy, and hate to see go. Heaven is where you belong, out of you sickness. We’ll meet again one day in a land so bright and fair where people don’t get sick, suffer and die. Sleep on Cousin Dorothy we’ll meet again some day where everyday will be Howdy Howdy and no more good byes.
