Dorothy (Ms. Dot) Lorraine Jane Kenion slipped quietly and peacefully into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father early Thursday morning, June 7, 2018 at Sentara Hospice House, Virginia Beach. Dorothy was a long-time member of St. Paul AME church before joining Bethany Baptist Church in Chesapeake, VA. Dorothy was born on October 22, 1929 in Washington County, North Carolina to the late Josephine Cleo Norman and Wilbert Howard. Dorothy graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. She was a devoted and dedicated wife and mother to her five children. She was gifted with many talents, but exceled as a self-taught seamstress.
Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory, her five devoted children: two daughters and two sons-in-law, Connie Portlock (William) and Sharon Wilkins (Bob); three sons and daughters-in-law, Earl Wood (Phyllis); Gregory Kenion (Vonda) and Anthony Kenion (Annette);17 grandchildren, 14 great-grand children and 4 great-great grandchildren. She also leaves to cherish her memory one sister and brother-in-law, Doretha N. Bagby (Walter) of Chesapeake, VA.; two brothers, William S. Norman (Elizabeth) and Kenneth Norman (Antoinale); Sister-in-Law, Lorraine Woods and a host of other relatives.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents/step-parent, Josephine Cleo and James Corbett Norman, Wilbert Howard; two sisters, Marjorie Baum and Joyce Pitts; Five brothers, Tyrone Norman, Joseph Woods, William Haywood Woods, Earl S. Woods, Benjamin Woods and Richard Woods.
