Dorothy H. Anthony was born on August 4, 1923 in Norfolk, Virginia. Her mother was clara Hill. She grew up in Norfolk and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. Dorothy went to work at the Naval Air Rework Facility until her retirement in 1986. She worked as an Aircraft Sheet Metal Mechanic.
She joined Shiloh Baptist Church and became an active member of the Eliah Ann Coppage Bible Class. She also joined Ushter Board No. 2 and served as President of the Ushers’ Fellowship for many years. She later became a Deaconess.
Dorothy was former President of the Baptist Women’s Missionary and former Bible Study leader for the Deaconess. She also served as Statistician for the Virginia State Usher’s Fellowship.
Dorothy was also a member of the Huntersville Senior Citizens Club. Her memory will be carried on by her daughter, Yvonne Matlock; son, Ernest Anthony and wife, Stella Anthony; grandsons, Lawrence Matlock, Mark Dixon and Samuel Brooks; granddaughter, Virginia DePratter, and great granddaughters, Lauren Dixon, Taylor Dixon and Brittany Suaco.
