Doris B. (Gorham) Foster, 87, died Monday, August 29, 2022, at Mohun Healthcare Center in Columbus, OH. A native of Norfolk, VA, Doris was born February 17, 1935, and was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Before relocating to Columbus, OH in 2012 to be with her daughter, she was a faithful member of the Basilica of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Norfolk, VA. She was baptized Catholic while attending St. Joseph School in Norfolk as a teenager.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Sylvester, and Marion (Brown) Gorham, her siblings, Sylvester Gorham, Jr., and Alveta (Gorham) Pearl, her spouse Ben Foster, Sr. and sons, Joseph, and Rickey Foster.

Doris is survived by her daughter, Sr. Patricia (Gorham) Dual, OP; sons Benjamin Foster, Jr., and wife Michelle, (Norfolk, VA.) and David Foster and wife Tina (Stafford, VA.); daughter-in law Brenda Foster (Norfolk, VA), eleven grandchildren, great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

During her lifetime, Doris was a quiet, humble but strong woman of deep faith. A homemaker who raised five children, she endeavored to live out her Catholic faith and tried to pass that faith on to her family and to others. Even during her illness, her compassionate and caring nature came through in her efforts to be of service to others. She had a winning smile and before her illness, loved to laugh. Doriswas dearly loved and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

    To the family of Ms. Doris Foster, Doris and I were next door neighbor for over ten years at Bobbitt Midrise Apartments in Norfolk, Virginia. She was very quiet person and a sweet soul. “Earth has no sorrow, that Heaven can’t heal”
