Donna Verniece Barrow

Mrs. Donna Verniece Yates Barrow, age 59, went to her Heavenly Home  on Thursday, May 16, 2019. She was the oldest child born to Mrs. Kay Jean Jones Mack and Frederick Lee Yates Sr. on August 22, 1959 in Portsmouth, Va. On November 5, 1979, she was joined in marriage to Aubrey Barrow and to this union four children were born; Timothy (Predeceased), Angel, Kenneth, and Aubrey.  Also, she reared Aaron Creekmore.

Mrs. Donna Verniece Yates Barrow was educated at Maury High School in Norfolk. She worked as a CNA for many years in the area nursing homes. She loved her plum lipstick and curly hairstyles. When it came to the family cookouts, she loved her brother’s cooking on the grill. No matter what he cooked, she enjoyed herself. A loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and a friend to all that she encountered. Donna had a big heart when it came to her family. However, she continued to give her motherly love to La Donna, Ashley, LaWonna and Asiah. She was the Superwoman and Big Mama to all that was in her presence. Her loving smile brought joy to all that she came in contact with.  In addition, her favorite singer was Chaka Khan, and her favorite song was “I’m Every Woman”.  However, some of her famous nicknames were “Auntie, Donna-Boo, Thunder Cat, and Donna Duck, to name a few.

 Donna oldest son Timothy Yates preceded her in death and leaves to cherish her “Homegoing” and her precious memories, husband, Aubrey Barrow; her mother, Kay Jean Jones Mack of Norfolk, Va.; father, Frederick L. Yates, Sr. (Arlene) of Winfall, NC; her daughters: Angel Glass (Marlon) of Va. Beach, Va.; Yolanda Caesar of Ga.; her sons : Kenneth Yates (Delmika), Aubrey Barrow, Jr. (Nicole) , Aaron Creekmore, Elijah Hill and Deshaun Parker all of Norfolk, Va. ; grandchildren:  Angel Yates, Marlon Glass, Jr. , Alexzis Glass, Aubrey Barrow III, Amerie Barrow, Prentis Wilson, Destiny Cooper, Kenneth Yates, Jr., Timothy Yates, Jr. ;  one sister , Betty J. Mack ( Deceased) ; three brothers Frederick L. Yates, Jr. and  Odis Mack of Norfolk, Va.; Quinton Porter( Toya) of Winfall, NC; sister by marriage Krusten McCullen of  Hertford, NC , brothers Gerald Armstrong  of  Norfolk, Va., Cyrelle Armstrong ( Alexis)  of Winfall, NC ; sister in-laws: Shirley Sparrow (Deceased), Sharon Simpson (Gary), Regina Williams and Janet Henderson; her best friends (Donna & Curtis Williams) with  a host of Aunts, Uncles, Nephews, Nieces, Cousins and  close Friends.

    I am truly sorry for your loss, what really comforted me in my time of loss is the scripture@ Revelation 21:3&4 . Which gives us the wonderful promise of God wiping out every tear from our eyes and death being no more. I hope this promise from Jehovah will truly bring your family much comfort at this time.
