On February 20,2019, Donald Thomas Lutz Jr, loving son brother husband and father of five passed away at the age of 58. Donald was born on September 13, 1960 in Fort Campbell Kentucky to Sergeant Donald Thomas Lutz Sr and Dorothy (Headen) Lutz. Donald grew up in Southern Pines, NC. During his education in Moore County, he developed an affinity for sports.

He was recognized by his peers as the wittiest in high school and broke a state record in shot put and discus track events. After high school Donald attended North Carolina Central University in Durham NC. He later joined  military in 1980 where he would go on to work his way up to Sergeant First Class. Donald was an active member of the Masonic Order. He was a 32-degree Mason. While serving in the military, Donald, was able to travel to many places and form numerous unforgettable relationships. Donald had a thirst for knowledge. He had an eclectic wealth of expertise in so many facets of life. Even if some of that expertise was self-proclaimed! He would get to the water at any time he was given. Donald was a diehard fan of the Carolina Panthers and the UNC Chapel Hill Tar heels. If these teams were playing, “Big Don” was tuned in and fired up for the show. Donald and his wife Sherry made their home together in Norfolk, Virginia. There he made many friends that became family. He would proudly share with them about his children and grandchildren.

Our deepest sympathy to the Lutz family.
From the very first day that Don arrived in the Quality Control office at PPSO, Norfolk, there was never a dull moment!! He managed to keep us laughing and debating whenever we were in the office together…so much so that we got noise complaints from the other offices!
Thanks for the great memories, My Friend and rest in eternal peace!
