On Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at 3:06 P.M., God called Derek Byron Smith, Sr. home to be with him. Derek was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, May 26, 1970 on a Tuesday morning at 3:06 A.M., to Herman and Estelle Smith. Derek is a graduate of class 1988 from Wyandanch and Wilson Tech High School in Wyandanch, NY. He was a loving son, who respected his parents, himself and others.

Derek was a loving brother who enjoyed spending time with his sisters, April Smith Brown (Jordan) of Hampton, VA and Coy Smith of Copiague, NY. Derek leaves to cherish his memory; five children, Angel Marie Smith and Alajah Marie Smith of Norfolk, VA, Amanda Michelle Smith of Chicago, IL, Derek Byron Smith, Jr. and Derek Byron Smith, III of Norfolk, VA; grandchildren, Jontavius Qua’ Shawn and A’Myran Brielle; very special friend, Jennifer Merello; uncles, Melvin Smith and Steve Smith of Knoxville, TN; aunt, Lenneice Smith of Knoxville, TN and a host of other family and friends.
