Deotis Coleman Jr. Was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on August 9, 1966 to Deotis and Shirley Coleman. He was raised in Des Moines, Iowa. Deotis left this world on March 2, 2021 after beating his fight with cancer.
Deotis dedicated 24 years to the United States Navy. He retired in 2009 as a Chief. After retirement he dedicated his time to working with children with special needs. He was a loving husband, father, brother, mentor, and friend. He was known for cracking jokes and always lending a helping hand.
Deotis was preceded in death by the tragic loss of his best friend, Theresa Coleman, his wife. He is survived by his parents; Deotis Coleman Sr. and Shirley Coleman, siblings; Denise Cavil, Dwayne Coleman, David Coleman, and Tyrone Clay, children; Leslie Williams, Aaron Coleman, David Coleman, Monishe Coleman, Daniel Coleman Sr., Sarah Coleman, Sierra Coleman, and Saniya Coleman, grandchildren; Dierra Coleman, Aaron Coleman Jr., Aarion Coleman, D’mir Coleman, Dominique Coleman, Allayah Coleman, Aubrey Coleman, Johnathan Williams, Breyden Williams, Ashton Williams, Kamerohn Coleman, Daniel Coleman Jr., Keniese Jones, Kamaya Jones, Alexander Butler III, Janiyah Santiful, Jailynn Santiful, Journey Santiful, and Jenesis Santiful; bonus sons; Kevon Carlisle and Alton Williams; many cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Deotis was a remarkable man and gave selflessly to his family and friends.

I remember when I first met him, elementary school and he was the funniest character to me lol bright light that never seemed to go out. Although he lost his battle to cancer, he still managed to love each of you in your own ways before he left & that’s what I want you guys to hold onto.
