Dennis Isaac Hodnett, 91, passed away on March 21, 2025, at Chesapeake Regional Hospital. He was the eldest of 12, born June 3, 1933, in Princess Anne County (Virginia Beach), VA, to the late Helen and Joseph Hodnett. Dennis was a retired Civil Service employee and later established a real estate career upon returning to the Tidewater area.
Dennis Hodnett was married to the late Alice Faye Hodnett for 40 years. He was preceded by a daughter, Angela R. Foreman. Dennis is survived by his children Debbie Faye Hodnett of Washington, DC, D. Isaac Hodnett, II of Stockholm, Sweden, Antonio Gardner of Suffolk, VA, Anthony Gardner of Chesapeake, VA, Valerie Butts of Carrollton, VA, and 2 remaining siblings, Peter Hodnett of Nashville, NC and Lillie (Hodnett) Butts of Washington, DC, 14 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends. Dennis “Chief” Hodnett’s personality, quiet disposition, and love of the Hodnett Klan left an indelible impression on all those he came in contact with.
