Delila Denise Bartee, who was affectionately known as “Lila”, entered eternal rest as she departed this earthly life on April 24, 2025, at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital.
Delila was born June 23, 1956, to the late Author and Patricia Jones at Portsmouth Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, VA.
Delila graduated from Craddock High School and attended Norfolk State University. She was a very hard worker throughout her career, starting with McDonald’s, Altschul’s, General Foam Plastic, Social Service in Portsmouth, VA, and Norfolk, VA, as a receptionist. She even worked at the QVC call center and CHKD Thrift store as a manager until her health declined.
Delila accepted Christ in her life and was a former member of New Hope Baptist Church.
Delila loved spending time with her granddaughter Amya as well as going on outings with her daughter and granddaughter. She liked listening to music and watching the cars on the road; she would ask her daughter if she liked the car she had seen. She also enjoyed eating pizza, drinking milkshakes, and Sprite.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Carolyn Burrus.
Delila leaves to mourn and cherish her memory, her husband, Robert Bartee; one daughter, Alicia Jones; one granddaughter, Amya Clark; two sisters, Ramona Jones, and Bonita Patillo. One brother, Wesley Jones, and brothers-in-law, Tony Patillo and George Burrus; nieces, Kesha Keys and Camryn Patillo; nephew, George Burrus, as well as a host of other family members and friends.
Delila had a loving and caring personality and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her dearly.
