Deborah A. Hawkins, Debbie, was born on October 26, 1957, and lived in Princess Anne County, where she lived most of her life. Debbie transitioned from this life on Tuesday, May 6, 2025.
She worked for the City of Virginia Beach for 30 years, 15 of which were spent with the Virginia Beach Treasurer and 15 years spent at DSS, where she retired. She was a dedicated Service Worker and loved working with the elders and Foster Care children.
She was a loving wife and mother who loved life and loved her family. She particularly loved both of her children fiercely. Her husband has been a constant companion and has cared for her through her illness. He has kept my cup filled.
Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, Edith and Amos Weston; a sister, Vera Burtt; and a granddaughter, Kaila Montel-Hawkins.
She leaves to cherish her memories, a loving husband of 52 years, Julius Hawkins; a son, Julius Hawkins Jr. and his wife, Tina; a daughter, Cherronte Hawkins; five granddaughters, Marina Loftus, Jacinda Hawkins, Jaylin Hawkins, Jadah Hawkins, and Monica Boone; and one great-grandson, Jaxson LaRosa Hawkins; two sisters, Geraldine Wilson and Glenda Johnson, both of Virginia Beach, and other friends and relatives to also include an adoptive family Chris West and Melissa.

May 12, 2025 at 3:12 pmTo the family I extend my sincere condolences and have known Debbie since I was a little girl. Her and my late aunt (peaches) Denise M Burnham had been child hood friends. She was one of the sweetest that I have ever met. She will truly be missed.
