Deanna S. Brickhouse was born in Norfolk, VA to Alice Turner, and Arthur Skinner. She was called to eternal rest on Tuesday, December 18, 2018.
Deanna was a dedicated employee of Southland Technologies for over 20 years. Her coworkers became more like extended family members as she was always regarded as the strong, independent, caring but outspoken, woman that so many people have come to love cherish.
When she retired in 2011, instead of enjoying her down time, she quickly divulged herself in doing what she could to help those she loved. Unselfishly volunteering her time to serve as a surrogate mother to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great nieces, great nephews and family friends, she became affectionately known as “Grandma Dee”. Although she was never hesitant to “set you straight” and be brutally honest, Grandma Dee was welcoming, patient, understanding and genuinely loved everyone that she knew; she was truly an inspiration to others.
Deanna leaves to cherish her memory, a loving mother, Alice Q. Turner, a son, Lenious White (Melanie); three sisters, Melinda Thomas(Hucless), Barbara Woods and Josie Hawkins; three grandchildren, Keshia Hawkins, Kevon Wilson and Bentlee White; four great grandchildren, Payton Stewart, Addisyn Wilson, Kaiden Jameson Green and Aryanna Wilson; and a very special great grandson, James Kameron Green, III, whom she loved deeply and affectionately referred to as “her baby”; a very special great nephew, Courtney Chambers; and a very special great niece, Emory Chambers. Deanna also leaves to cherish her memory, a host of extended family and friends.
