David J. Best, Jr.

David Jerome Best, Jr. was born on September 22, 1957 in Kinston, NC. He was the son of David J. Best, Sr. and the late Leora Best. David dedicated his life to serving the Lord at a young age. He attended the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith.David was educated in the public schools of Deep Run County, NC. After graduating from high school, David went to Lenoir Community College in Kinston, NC. He received his Associate degree in Electronic Data Processing.
Many years later after moving to Philadelphia, he attended University of Phoenix online and received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Information Technology.

When David moved to Philadelphia PA in 1986, he lived with his Aunt Martha for eight (interesting) years. Everyone that knew Aunt Martha knew that she was a character and she loved her David. While living with Aunt Martha, David met the love of his life Thelma Best and married her in 1994 for over 25 years. In Philadelphia, David worked for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in the weatherization department. After several years he moved on and began working at the library as an accountant. He finally found his dream job working as a nightshift supervisor for the Police Department as a Computer Network
Associate for about 12 years. Altogether, David worked for the City of Philadelphia for 23 years before retiring. Throughout his career, David won several awards for his outstanding service. David loved cats and raised two that were very special to him named Frisky and Morris. His favorite hobby was working with computers and everyone that knew him knew that he loved watching T.V.

He leaves to cherish his memories; his lovely wife, Thelma Best, his father, David Best Sr. (Juanita), his stepdaughter Velma Hunter (Victor), three granddaughters; Imani, Victoria and Christina, one grandson, Walton all of Philadelphia. He also leaves to cherish his memories his brother Dario, his sisters Dollisha and Jennifer, his mother-in-law Hattie, eight sisters-in-law;
Addie, Shirley, Betty (Butch), Joyce (Elliott), Shelia (Bobby), Barbara (Butch), Alice (Anthony) and Nancy (Roll); three brothers-in-law; Willie (Rayelynn), Jerome (Sharon) and Michael (Faye); his aunts Iris, Phoebe, Gladys and Laura Bell, a host of cousins and a long time friend Nate of Philadelphia.

David will truly be missed!

    I can not begin to say enough that David will truly be missed. What an amazing personality! His kindness and gentleness should be contagious.
    My condolences go out to his loving wife and family. May he now rest in the Lord from all his labor. Go with God my brother until we meet again.
