Brother Darrell Lee Jones, Sr. was born on June 13, 1952 and departed this life on August 21, 2020. He was born to Miller R. Jones and Bertha V. Jones and was the second of 5 children. He attended Granby High School, Norfolk, Virginia and later obtained his General Equivalency Diploma. Brother Darrell Jones worked as a City Bus Driver, Car Salesman, Railroad Employee and a Hampton Roads Transit Driver.
Brother Darrell Jones was baptized in Jesus Name in 1996 and filled with the Holy Ghost in 2000. He joined Guiding Light Apostolic Church of Christ. On June 17, 2000, he married Cassandra Jones and they were blessed with four beautiful children. In 2009 he joined First Gospel Tabernacle, where he taught the Adult Sunday School Class.
He touched so many lives with his testimony of being in the hospital 56 times and God did bring him out. He told his testimony everywhere he went. His two favorite scriptures were, Psalms 34:1, “I will bless the Lord at all times and his praises shall continually be in my mouth’ and Hebrews 10:35 “Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompense of reward”. He will be greatly missed.
Brother Darrell Jones, Sr. was predeceased by his parents, Miller R. Jones and Bertha V. Jones, his brothers, Phillip L. Jones and Eric Jones and sister, Donna Jones. Left to cherish Brother Darrell’s memories is his wife of 20 years, Cassandra Jones, six children, Alexis Jones, Caleb Jones, Keyara Jones and Joyce Jones all of Chesapeake, Virginia, Darlene Esqueda (Chris) of Tacoma, Washington, Darrell L. Jones, Jr. of Virginia Beach, Virginia, a special daughter- in- law, Takisha Jones of Chesapeake, Virginia; a brother, Thomas Jones (Annette) of Norfolk, Virginia; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; a special niece, Perish Lightfoot and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
