Today and forevermore we are here to Celebrate the life of Daoud Naim Bilal, 58 years old of Virginia Beach, Va. Daoud was Born in Manhattan, New York on July 13, 1962, to Akilah Bilal and David Lathan. After the birth of his younger siblings, the family relocated from New York City to Norfolk, Va. Educated in the Norfolk Public School system Daoud went on to be notably THEE BEST DRESSED throughout his years at Booker T. Washington High School. Creative and Artistic like his parents he ventured into a canvas painting. He was naturally able to coordinate and design different pieces of attire.
He became a connoisseur of jewelry as it was uncommon to see him without numerous necklaces, bracelets, and rings. He adorned a beautiful crab to symbolize his astrological sign “Cancer” Daoud is remembered for the joy you felt when you saw him coming, the smile he addresses you with that showed his gold tooth, the clean and well put together fashion statements you expected from him every time he graced your presence. Daoud was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan and he made sure everyone everywhere knew it. While he struggled with some vices through his life we all appreciated the trash talk, his continued efforts to make jokes and bring laughs from your gut, his resiliency after losing his father and becoming a father of two amazingly talented kids whom he continued to strive to keep a close relationship with. He often recalled the peace he had with the two mothers of his children who he remained friends with Louise Harris(VA) and Celestine Best (NC).
Today while we remember Daoud, a son, a brother, a cousin, an uncle, a father, and a friend remember him as a Creative, fashionable, and Loving Black King.
