To love and be loved is the greatest gift on earth”. Cynthia’s greatest gift was the love for her family.

On the afternoon of January 30, 2024, our beloved Cynthia Reneé White earned her wings as she was called home to glory by the Lord. She was the eldest of four children born on May 21, 1957, to Margie Juanita Hayes, and the late Wilbert Lee. Riddick, Sr.

Cynthia was a graduate of Norview High School in Norfolk, VA, but also attended Oscar F. Smith High School in Chesapeake VA, where she met her high school sweetheart Duane T. White, Sr.

She was married to Duane Thomas White, Sr. for 49 years before her passing. Their marriage produced 3 children, LaToya J. White, Duane T. White Jr, and Ebony D. White. She was a devoted military spouse who supported her husband and family throughout his 25 years of military service. Her hobbies include singing, spending time with her children and grandchildren, cooking, and going to the movies.

At an early age she received Christ in her life. She was a faithful member of the New Hope Church of God in Christ under Bishop Herman Clark, Sr., who committed herself to doing the will of God. Her employment includes 31 years of service at Brandon Middle School as a food service associate and 21 years of service as a Walmart associate.

Cynthia is predeceased by her father, Wilbert Lee Riddick, Sr. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Duane T. White, Sr. of Chesapeake; 2 daughters, LaToya J. White of Maryland, Ebony D. Condolences to the family of Mrs. White. She will always hold a special memory in our heart here at Brandon Middle School. Her kind and gentle ways helped each child (and adult) make it through each day. She spoke often about her family, especially her grandchildren and was super proud of each accomplishment you all achieved. Continue to shine brightly, remembering your grandmother’s love, strength and kindness.

My condolences to the family of Ms. Cindy. She was a bright spot in my morning routine at Brandon Middle School. She called me Ms. Pinky due to my fondness of the color pink. I would enjoy our short walks in the hallways in the mornings. She will be missed terribly.
