Cynthia McClease was born to Gwendolyn Dunigan on October 22, 1949, in Norfolk, Virginia. She was raised by her adoptive parents, William and Lillian Mae Robinson in Brooklyn, NY. After a short illness, she was called from her earthly vessel on December 29, 2022, surrounded by her family.
After obtaining her GED, she continued her education at Norfolk State University. She proudly graduated with Cum Laude honors in May 1999 where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English/Elementary Endorsement. She was employed as a secretary at NSU and had also been a teacher in the public school system. For several years, she was also a licensed hair stylist and owner of Far Above Rubies Hair Salon in Chesapeake, VA.
She met and married Stanford McClease and they were married for over 23 years. Cynthia deeply loved her children.
She was a former member of Cathedral of Faith COGIC from 1989 to 2010. She had moved out of the area but eventually returned to Virginia. In 2019, she joined Better Life Ministries COGIC under Superintendent Duane S. McNair, Sr., where she faithfully served until the Lord called her home.
Cynthia was preceded in death by her parents; her son, ElderOmar Burton, Sr.; sister, Gloria Robinson Edwards; and threebrothers, Wallace Robinson, Clarence Dunigan, Jr. and Donald Dunigan.
Left to lovingly cherish her memory are her daughter, Constance Griffin of Newport News, VA, and son, Naaman Robinson of Chesapeake, VA; two brothers, Tyrone Dunigan of Greenville, SC and Patrick Dunigan of Bastrop, TX; 12 grandchildren: Angelo, Nina, Rachel, Brandon, Zachary, David, Julian, Kiara, Jasmine, Shereese, Omar, Jr., and Gabby; 18 great-grandchildren and a host of loving family and friends.
