Cynthia Diane Hart was called to her eternal rest early Tuesday morning, October 1, 2024, at the Commonwealth Senior Living at Leigh Hall in Norfolk, VA. Cynthia was born on November 24,1953 in Norfolk Community Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia. She was one of two children born to Jesse Hart and Evelyn Walker Hart. Both of her parents and brother, Jesse Gerard, preceded her in death. Cynthia was also preceded in death by Tharvon “Bumpy” Walker (uncle) and Steven Wayne Smith (longtime companion).
Cynthia grew up in the Campostella Heights area of Norfolk. She was educated in the Norfolk Public School System from her early years throughout high school. She graduated from Lake Taylor High School in the class of 1972. In the fall of 1972, she enrolled in Norfolk State University where she majored in Special Education and graduated with a B.S. Degree.

Cynthia loved nature and life. She loved animals of all kinds, domestic and wild. She often wore animal print attire and decorated with it in her home. Her hobbies included gardening and cooking. She had a green thumb and could make anything grow. Her cooking was not only good but plated beautifully as well.
Cynthia leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Mynahgi Hart; nieces, Desire’ Hart and Jazselyn Bynum; nephew, Dezsmein Bynum; cousins, Sheryl Harts and Oscar Harts; best friend, Judy Walden and a host of extended family and friends.

October 8, 2024 at 2:27 pmMy dear cousin & lifelong friend will be missed! I’ll cherish our childhood fun and antics in the clay hills of our grandmother’s country home of NC during those hot summer months. I’ll also be eternally grateful for our growing into adulthood together, sharing the laughter of joy and periods of sadness. May peace reign with us both until we meet again. Love always, Sheryl

October 10, 2024 at 9:34 amI have know Cynthia since the fall of 1973 when I pledged Gamma Epsilon Theta. She was one of our Gamma sweethearts. She was always a very quiet and great individual. Haven’t seen her since I left Norfolk State in 1976. I’ll always remember her face.
