Cynthia Denise Graves was born on November 19, 1954, to the late James Hemingway and Alease Jones. On September 2, 2019, she departed peacefully into eternal rest; free from all pain and suffering. She was predeceased by her son Anthony Graves. Her memory will be forever cherished and honored by her devoted husband, Roderick Graves of 46 years, Norfolk, VA, Tonya Brownfield, (Charles), TN, Victoria Graves (Derik), Norfolk, VA, Patricia Graves, Norfolk, VA, Special Children, William Perkins, Kevin Perkins, Trevore (Kendell) Jones, Angie Riddick, Sheila Jones (Sister), All of Durham, NC, Joseph Hemingway “Buddy” (Deborah), Gregory Jones (Angie), Darron Jones, Special Mention of Grandson Christopher Graves
(Allison), and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Special friends, Barbara Jackson, Minister Ruby Varise, and Sister Donna Reed of Chicago.
Cynthia (Denise) represented and modeled attributes and functions of a true Christian soldier, in spite of her illnesses. She did not let her illnesses nor any tribulations deter her from church, praising God, or taking care of her family. She joined Christ Empowered Ministries, Inc., in September of 2009, where she was Licensed as an Evangelist in March of 2018. Her mission was to talk about the Lord whenever and wherever she was. Sold out for Jesus. She truly loved her Lord, her lover, Roderick Graves, her family, and her church family.
