It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Curtis Leroy Crumity, Jr., age 35, of Norfolk, Virginia. He was called home to rest on May 26, 2025.
Curtis was born on December 12, 1989, in Portsmouth, Virginia, to Philissa Marable and Curtis Leroy Crumity, Sr. He attended Green Run High School, Tallwood High School, and Booker T. Washington High School. He graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 2008. He furthered his education by attending Johnson C. Smith University, then later transferred to Norfolk State University. He then joined the workforce, spending most of his work years at Harrison’s Moving and Storage as well as providing security at various establishments throughout the Tidewater area.
Curtis loved sports. He began playing football in the Pee Wee league when he was five years old. He continued to play football throughout his youth, college, and later as part of a pick-up league. He was also a very active participant in track and field. Although he enjoyed watching all levels of football, his favorite team was the Las Vegas Raiders. If he were not rocking the team logo, he would wear their colors.
His hobbies included collecting cards, especially Pokémon, anime, and gaming. He was a skilled gamer who was a force to be reckoned with. Not only was he a great player, but he was also talented at building and repairing gaming systems.
Curtis could be considered somewhat of a foodie. He could tell you all the places to go for good food. Many times, he would travel hours away from home to sample food at places that would interest him. It seemed only fitting, considering he has loved to eat since he was born.
Curtis was a quiet, gentle man. The only thing bigger than his physical stature was his heart. He loved his family and friends and would do anything for them. He had many roles during his life. He was a loving and caring son, a role model to his siblings, a dedicated and devoted father, and the best friend anyone could have the honor of having.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Annie Pearl Mitchell and Luther Marable, Jr., and his paternal grandparents, Katherine Williams and James Tim.
He is survived by two sons, Carmello Fitgerald and Carter Crumity, his parents Philissa Marable and Curtis Crumity, Sr. (Wilhemina); two brothers, Montray Crumity (Sherlanda) and Jordan Smith; three sisters, Anniesha Crumity, Dejonee Burnett, and Ciara Burnett (Jason); three nieces Jazell Alexander, Liliahna Addison and Kalani Smith; five nephews Kahmaree Crumity, Kayson Downing, Donovan Cole, Oluremi Burnett and Kwanel Petty Jr.; best friend Justin Ely and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and gamers.
