On Sunday, June 1, 2025, Crystal Laverne Barron, affectionately called “Blink”, peacefully entered into her eternal rest while surrounded by loved ones. Crystal was born in Norfolk, Virginia, on July 9, 1962, to Dennis and Thelma Taylor. As a child, she was given the nickname Blink by her mother, as she would be seen constantly blinking her eyes.
Crystal attended Norfolk Public Schools and later developed a passion for Childcare. For many years, she successfully owned and operated a Home Daycare business before retiring due to health challenges. Blink was a humble and quiet-spirited person. She rarely ever complained but shared her sentiments of appreciation for the simple things in life. She loved her children with every fiber of her heart and held a special place in her heart for her grandchildren. They often share fond memories of her home-cooked meals, deliciously prepared for them, every day after school. Crystal enjoyed cooking for her family, and many would compliment her Famous Chicken and Rice dish. Blink enjoyed having fun and spending time with family and close friends. She took pride in family unity and encouraged peace and love, above all else. Crystal had a sweet spirit about herself and a smile that could light up any room. She was a strong woman who persevered through life’s challenges with so much grace and gratitude. She had a heart of gold and a laugh that was infectious to all those around.
Blink dedicated her life to the Lord many years ago, and she recognized what the Power of God could do. She was a faithful honorary partner of Covenant Community Worship Center and gained strength in her relationship with Christ as she grew stronger in her faith. Her life was a true testament of love, strength, endurance, and faith.
Crystal was preceded in death by one grandson, Taekwon “Tae-Tae” Barron. She leaves to cherish her memory, her Father, Dennis “Den-Lee” Taylor and Mother, Thelma “Sween” Taylor, three dearly beloved children, Rodney Barron (Tameisha), Ykita Davenport (Yvette) and Martina Barron; twelve grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; five sisters, Bonita Hargrave (Timothy), Jacqueline Taylor, Darcell Taylor (Bryan), Angela Taylor, Felicia Strobridge, and a Bonus Sister, Belle Simmons; four brothers, Tony Barron (Michelle), Dennis Taylor, Darren Taylor, and Robert Brickhouse, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
