Well done my good and faithful servant The late Mrs. Corrine Darden Scretching quietly transition away from her earthly home to her heavenly home on Thursday July 25, 2019 at Rose Mary Assisted Living in Norfolk, VA. She was born September 08, 1925 in Suffolk, VA to the late Mr. Ernest Darden and Mrs. Alice Weaver. She was joined in Holy matrimony to the late Mr. Oliver Scretching.
Mrs. Corrine was educated in Suffolk Public Schools System. After graduation she move to New York where she begin her work history. Her work history included Professional Seamstress, Chase Manhattan Bank of New York, as Bank Auditor. She retired from Chase Manhattan and moved back to Portsmouth VA. Through Mrs. Corrine work history, she obtained many Certificate of acknowledgments. She was faithful contributor for the America Heart Association, St. Jude Children Research Hospital, March of Dimes, United Negro College Fund, and Inspiration Ministries. Mrs. Corrine rendered her life to the Lord and was baptized at an early age; she was a member of Brighten Rock AME Zion Church of Portsmouth, VA where she served for many years as a faithful member on the following Boards; Missionary, Trustee, Trustee Emeritus Stewardess Usher Board, Alter Guild, and Life Member. She also completed Brighten Rock Bible College; she was crown Queen of the church in 2003. Mrs. Corrine was faithful in serving her church until her health began to fade. The family thank the church for continuing to serve her communion until her timely death. Mrs. Corrine enjoyed sewing, crafting, modeling, vacationing to different parts of the country and love going to the Opera.
She preceded in death one sister Sarah L. Johnson and two brother’s Mr. Claymon and Cornelius Brown. She leaves to cherish in loving memories one God-Niece Mrs. Loretta Bakari-Baldwin (Mark) Portsmouth VA, two brothers Mr. Timothy Mason (Barbara) of Rialto of CA and Mr. Earnest Weaver of Boston MA. She also leaves to cherish in memories two
very special caregivers Pastor Essie Stephen and Jessie (Bubba) Stephen, Special friend Mr. James Barnes and three special cousin, Ms. Helen Brown of Detroit, MI , Mrs. Valerie (Miller) Brancato of East Northport, NY, Mrs. Alice (Darden) Lundia of Suffolk, VA an host of other relatives, friends and church family that comforted and supported in her heavenly journey.
