Clemial Faulkner Jr.

Sunrise: November 29, 1977

Sunset: November 2, 2021

Clemial Faulkner, Jr. went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 2, 2021.  Clemial was born November 29, 1977, in Wilmington, Delaware to Clemial, Sr. and Carolyn L Woody.  He was the only brother of Sherrell Faulkner Johnson.

Clem graduated from Delcastle Technical High School.  At Delcastle, he played Varsity basketball (wore #32) and JV football and went on to Wilmington University where he played on the basketball team also wearing #32, which became his favorite number.  He later went on to join the Navy where he served honorably as an Operations Specialist Petty Officer 2nd Class for five years.  His duty assignments included the USS Vella Gulf, USS Brisco and USS Carr.  While in the military, he met his wife, Aikeyla, of 19 years. Thru that union came two sons, Clemial Faulkner, III (TRE), (18) and Taylor Faulkner (13).

Clem later continued his education, receiving his Associates Degree while attending Wilmington University followed by earning a Bachelor’s degree at DeVry University.  He also earned his Master’s degree graduating Magna Cum Laude.  He also majored in Electrical Technology while attending Tidewater Community College.

After receiving an honorable discharge from the Navy, he was employed at Brinks as a Coin Machine Mechanic where he was elevated to the position of Assistant Supervisor.  He later entered an apprenticeship program with the Federal Government as an Electrician.  Upon graduating the program, he served as a Sit-In Supervisor and a President for an Employee Driven Safety Committee Program.  His most current position was a Lead Production Controller for Norfolk NAVFAC Mid-Atlantic.  In May of 2020 he was recognized as P.W. Superstars, celebrating National Public Works Week.

Clem Jr accepted Christ at an early age joining Central Baptist Church.  There he served in the youth choir and the usher board.  He was an active member of the M.W. Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Virginia, F. & A.M., Inc.  He is a Worshipful Past Master of Progressive Lodge No. 80 in Norfolk, Virginia. He was a 32nd Degree Mason.

Clem loved to spend his time playing basketball, working out, going for long walks, cutting his lawn, watering, and caring for plants, cutting hair, going to amusement parks to ride rollercoasters, spending quiet time outside while sipping coffee, studying, and reciting his masonic and Bible materials.  He was well-organized and was an avid note taker. He enjoyed grocery shopping every Sunday with his wife.  His favorite things in the world were spending quality time with his sons Tre and Taylor.  He often had long thought-provoking conversations with Tre.  Special moments with him, was on November 2nd Tre enjoyed talking on his birthday with his dad spending two hours together and hearing his dad say, “I Love You Son”, always putting work down and taking the time to give him a hug.  Early mornings before Taylor would go to his bus stop, he would always give a speech about schoolwork, football, and life.  He would have a piece of candy when picking him up from football practice.  When younger, he would comfort him with sayings from the Bible when he was scared of the dark.

Clem will be sadly missed by his nephews Jahmir and Cameron. He would call them and give words of encouragement, and ask about their days. His niece, MoNae, enjoyed him playing as Mickey Mouse on the phone talking like him and just being silly.  He would call his sister, Sherrell, every night and they would talk about everything.  Together they had a very close and special relationship as brother and sister.

Clem Jr, leaves to cherish his memory with wife, Aikeyla, Sons, Clemial (Tre) and Taylor. Clem was my brother, I knew him my entire life. We might not have spoken in months or hung out everyday, however I am still heartbroken my brother is no longer here for his beautiful family and to coincidentally bump into at our parents homes an talk forever like no time has past in between. I remember Jr gave me my first Gameboy, I have plenty of stories like this about his generosity, and the value of our friendship. I regret not being a part of his family’s life but blessed to have been a part of his. I have so much more I want to say but I’ll just end with this; My brother, rest in paradise thy good and faithful servant.

My condolences on the passing of a great friend from 2-4 and playing basketball every Sunday at the park or football in the church parking lot. This one hurts to see my brother get called home but I know God had a better plan for him, so rest on my brother until me meet again.

Death will never be easy for those of us that remain beyond that of the lives of our friends and loved ones. After sadly hearing the news of my brother Clem, I’ve just constantly been replaying so many fond memories in my head. I spent basically every day of my teenage years with Clem and the rest of our Fab Five group (Jamal, Neimon, Trell). We would talk sparingly as adults, but stayed in touch. Clem comes from a great family. My condolences go out to Mr Clem, Mrs Carolyn and Sherrell. It is no surprise Clem would form his own living family in which he was so proud of and loved very much. I can still hear the pride in his voice everytime we talk on the phone about our families. My prayers are extended to Aikeyla, Tre and Taylor. May God bring you an abundance of love, peace and comfort as you all get through this tough moment in life. Love you much my brother. #32 #FabFive #2-4
