Christine Byrd-Neville was born December 2 ,1948 in Accomack County, Virginia.
Christine was born to the late Tanzetta Selby and Oakley Byrd Sr. She transitioned to eternal rest on the afternoon of Friday, June 26 , 2020.
Christine received her education through Norfolk Public Schools and later relocated to Philadelphia, PA. While residing in Philadelphia, she was a member of St. Stephen’s Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor James M. Harrington Sr. Christine spent numerous years in Philadelphia before returning back home to Virginia. She held multiple jobs over the years before retiring from Share Hospital Service in Portsmouth, VA. Additionally, Christine was a member of the Eastern Star.
Christine was a quiet spirit with a huge heart for her family and dear friends. She took great pride in raising her daughter and becoming a grandmother. She loved music, sewing, crocheting, cooking and most of all ‘playing games’. She will truly be missed for the impact she made on the family.
She was preceded in death by her brother Oakley Byrd Jr, her sisters, Barbara Campbell-Harrington and Annie Mae Brothers and a grandson. Christine leaves to cherish her memories: one daughter; Toninetta Morning (Ronnie) of Norfolk, Va., two sisters; Joyce Harris of Chesapeake, VA., and Hazel Malone of Portsmouth, VA, and a devoted friend Kathleen Ricks. Three grandchildren; two- great grand-children and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
