Chiffonda L. Speller

Sunrise: March 4, 1974

Sunset: August 7, 2024

Chiffonda Lanisha Speller, a breath of fresh air with a big grin and infectious laughter, brought joy and contagious energy to everyone she met. Born and raised in Portsmouth, VA. Chiffonda attended Portsmouth Public Schools before joining the Youth Challenge program, where she courageously overcame numerous obstacles and proudly earned her diploma.

Chiffonda furthered her dedication to caring for others by obtaining her CNA certificate, and tirelessly and lovingly working as a caregiver for the elderly. She continued her educational journey at Thomas Nelson Community College and TCC, always striving for personal and professional growth.

Chiffonda’s vibrant personality shone through in every aspect of her life, including her role as the head cook at Waffle House. She took immense pride in ensuring that each customer left satisfied and with a smile. Throughout her life, Chiffonda selflessly gave to others, often putting their needs before her own, and she dreamed of one day running her own event planning business.

Sadly, Chiffonda’s life was cut short, and her absence will be felt deeply by all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and unwavering love. She is survived by her loving mother, Dorcas McLellan; her brother, Robert McLellan; and her sister, Tiffany Watts. She also leaves behind her beloved nieces, Laila Watts, Mya Watts, and Shamyah Wray; her nephews, Charles Watts, Johnathan Watts, and William Watts; her aunts, Annie Ausby and Vera Jean McLellan; her uncle, William McLellan; and a host of cousins and friends who were blessed to have known her.

Chiffonda will be remembered as a caring soul who touched the lives of many. Her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved her
