Chastine Clayton Clary

On Wednesday, January 15,2020 God called his son Chastine Clayton Clary to come home at the age of 91.

“Charles” as he was known was born September 28,1928 in Ivor VA to Edward Clary and Miranda Evans.

Charles joined the army as a young man, when he left the army he worked as a rigor. He retired from New York Shipping Association. He was a member of ILA Local 1518.

Charles was a faithful member of Bethany Baptist Church. He was a financial officer and also affiliated with Sunday School, Bible Study and the male choir. He loved to sing for the Lord. He will be remembered for his acts of kindness and his big heart.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Clary and Miranda Evans; son, Gary Burl; brothers, Carlton E Graves, Shepperd Graves, Pilate Graves, Emanuel Graves, Roy Clary, Edward Clary; sister, Olive Graves.

Charles had a very strong love for his entire family. He was not just a provider. He was strength, protection, a man of integrity, and a great example of love and affection.

He leaves behind his soul mate Hortense Clary who he called “Tess” the joy of his life whom he was married to for 56 years. They were faithful companions everyday of their life together.

He also leaves his son, Tony Clary; daughter, Lisa Evans; two grandchildren, Jessica Clary and Tyeesha Burl; five great-grandchildren, Christopher Walker, Lateesha Walker, Izziah Divine, Dawalo Wise and Bailei Wise; three great great grandchildren, King Walker, Lateela Ford and Ziyad Ford; Brother, Fred Clary and sister, Zuline Clary. He also leaves to cherish his memories a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and church family all who will miss him dearly.
