Charlie Parker, Sr. transitioned to heaven peacefully on October 2, 2023. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 53 years Alice, three daughters Sandra Jean Parker, Alfreda Quick and Charlene Morring (Brent Morring) and one son, Charlie Parker, Jr.

Charlie worked 36 ½ years as a government civilian worker. He then began a third career with the City of Norfolk as a traffic engineer and he ultimately retired a second time. He was a member of Mount Hermon Baptist Church for 53 years and he served in the Trustee Ministry for 25 of those years. He also loved to travel to visit and spend time with his family. He also loved to “tinker” in his garage and take care of his home.

He was predeceased by his siblings, Carrie Lee Jones, Larrina Parker Jenkins, Benjamin Samuel Parker, Hester Melinda Parker and Johnnie Lou Jenkins and a special niece that he considered a sister, Christine Jones Myrick.

Charlie will be dearly remembered by a close family friend, his adopted daughter Kimberly Powell, a host of loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, other relatives and friends.

Please accept my deepest sympathy and condolences for the passing of my father in law. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I can’t imagine the pain you’re going through, and may the mercy of God give you comfort. I was blessed to have a second father figure which was you. You taught me the good and bad of life, and I accepted it gracefully because it built character within me. Your presence and influence with your family and community will be greatly missed and never forgotten. Rest In Peace 🩷

To the family. We are so sorry for your loss. The death of a love one can be extremely difficult to cope with. Many have found comfort in the promise found there at Acts 24:15. There it speaks about the Resurrection. Do draw comfort in the promise found there and please know you and your family will be in our prayers…MaryAnn
