Charlie Beamon, Jr.

Charlie Beamon, Jr. affectionately known as “Brother” was the oldest Son of his eight siblings born on January 25, 1935 in Sunbury, NC to the Late Charlie and Bessie Norman Beamon. God reached his hands out for him on May 25, 2018 and he departed this life relieving his pain and suffering. He was 84 years old.

“Brother” was a member of St John AME Zion Church in Sunbury, NC. He grew up working on his Uncle farm during harvest season along with his siblings. After graduating high school he enrolled in college at North Carolina A&T University where remained until enlisting into the United States Army. After years of serving overseas he began a new chapter of his life by marrying Annie Gatling and starting a new career in Civil Service at the Naval Air Station in Norfolk, VA where he retired from after perfecting his skill in Upholstery.

“Brother” was a Cool Man. He had a great sense of humor, he loved life, loved his family and was loved by many.

Charlie was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Annie G. Beamon, His oldest son Derek T. Beamon, his oldest daughter, Kimberly M. Beamon, his sisters, Ethel B. Saunders, Mary B. Jordan, and Karen Beamon. Both of His brothers George V. Beamon and William E. Beamon.

He leaves to cherish unforgettable memories, his son Byron J. Beamon of Norfolk, VA. His daughters, Felicia B. Benson (Johnnie) of Williamsburg, VA and Monisha Jenkins, of Brooklyn, New York. Two sisters, Bertha Adams of Chesapeake, VA and Thelma A. Savage of New Haven, CT. Five granddaughters, Okera Beamon of Norfolk, VA Johnene Benson of Newport News VA Johne’t Benson of Chesapeake, VA Kimberly and Ashley Beamon of Portsmouth VA. Five Grandsons, Antonio Coleman of Baltimore, MD, Byron Beamon, Jr (Kaleshia) of Rocky Mount, NC and Stephon Beamon of Gates NC; Johnathan and Johjuan Benson of Williamsburg, VA. 4 great grandchildren, Aaron, Destiny, Xavier, SylVea and Jeremiah and a host of Nephews, nieces, cousins and special friends.
