Charles Peppers Jr., affectionately known as “Pep” or “Silk”, made his grand debut into this world on April 20, 1965. “Pep” was a native of Norfolk, Va. even though he was a Chicago native at heart. He attended Maury High School and jumped right into the work force shortly after. He was employed at HB Hunter for more than 25 years! “Pep” contributed his work ethic, structure, and character to his grandfather Willie Davis. He also honored his mother, Barbra Peppers, with great esteem. He frequently referred to her as his mother and father. “Pep” also LOVED his mother’s cooking. He didn’t just have ONE favorite dish, but several. It would range anywhere from chicken, to pig’s feet and anything in-between. He would often follow dinner with dessert, his favorite part of the meal. Don’t be fooled. “Silk” wasn’t shy in the kitchen! He LOVED to cook. He’d frequently watch Paula Deen or Wolf Gang Puck videos for inspiration. After a good meal, you may catch him on the edge of his bed with a pack of Reeses cups watching his FAVORITE football team, The Steelers. “Silk” was a HUGE steelers fan, win or lose. He would even make sure he had the newest and largest television on the market to watch his team comfortably. “Pep” also loved his music. If you just so happen to be outside on a nice day, you’d hear “Pep” blasting his music before you’d even see his car. The neighbors always knew he was home because their windows would shake from his car speakers EVERY time he pulled up. Some of his favorite artist included Toni Tony Tone, Guy, and even 50 cent made the list. If it was Rap or 90s R&B, “Pep” was listening. Yes, “Pep” loved his music, his food and his steelers. However, his 2 daughters were the love of his life. Nikkia and Alaria were his pride and joy. He loved his girls and wanted them to love each other even more. “Pep” wanted their relationship to be strong like he had with his brothers, Curtis Peppers and Donnell Davis. He would often tell the girls stories of his brothers and how they would get off punishment anytime the were able to catch crabs for their mother. “Pep’s” goals for his daughters were for them to be taken care of, never want for anything, and to always have each others back. The girls refer to him as an amazing father who gave them love and so much more. “Pep” recently welcomed his first grandchild into the world; His youngest daughter Alaria’s son, Kharmari Ransdell.
On May 6, 2021, “Pep” left everyone he loved to be with the one who loved him most. Although we know it wasn’t his choice to leave, we understand and appreciate his life and the legacy he leaves behind.
