Charles Leon Brooks was born October 29, 1961 in Shawboro, NC to the late Clinton Brooks Sr. of Pasquotank County, NC and Ophelia Cowell Brooks of Crawford Township, NC. He attended Pasquotank County Schools and Virginia Public Schools. Charles became a member of St. Thomas Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church in Greensboro, NC under the leadership of Bishop Dr. Tyrone D. Hunter.

Charles leaves behind: his loving wife Virgie Holley Brookes, daughter Sabrina Simmons, stepdaughter Nicole Briggs (Kenneth), and step son Dominc Holley.

Also cherishing his memory are brothers and sisters Clinton Brooks Jr. (Jeffery Sue), Patricia Mercer, Richard Brooks (Shelia), Beatrice Lewis (Roderick), aunt and uncle Bernice Cowell and George Brooks. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was predeceased by his sisters Edith Artis, Darlene Brooks, and by his aunt Geraldean Hollman.

    We are so saddened to hear of the passing of your brother. Charles was also was like a brother to our family as well as the other Brooks siblings.       Charles was love. Charles was fun. You just couldn’t be sad if Charles was around, he wasn’t going to have it. I loved him dearly. May his soul rest peacefully and may his memory soon bring a smile to loved ones faces just as sure as a tear to our eyes.
