Charles Adams, Jr., the son of the late Charles Adams, Sr. and Pauline Adams Pough was born on January 4, 1934 in Winfall, NC. While in North Carolina, Charles attended Perquimans Training School. Subsequently, in his early teen years, he migrated to Brooklyn, NY where he later graduated from Western House High School with numerous recognitions of achievements.

Upon entering adulthood, Charles aspired to be a boundless provider, husband and worshiper. He married his amorous,
devoted and equally-yoked companion Mrs. Gloria M. Adams, whom he would embark on a lifetime journey of joyous marriage and friendship with for thirty years. Charles joined St. Paul A.M.E. Church in August of 1996 where he was a dedicated member and servant on the Trustee Board, Senior Usher Ministry (22 years) and the Lay Ministry for many years. The Building Fund was near and dear to his heart. As a “Jack of all trades”, Charles excelled at many professions. He was an over the road truck driver transporting freights over long distances for more than twenty years. Later, he would serve as a dispatcher for Hunts Point Market, Bronx, NY for more than twenty-five years. Lastly, after relocating to Chesapeake, VA, Charles became a bus driver for Portsmouth City Public Schools, rendering his service for eleven years.

After much success and a life full of triumph, he retired in 2006. Charles Adams, Jr. was most notably a kind, gentle and
compassionate husband, father, grandfather and friend. During his quiet time, he found great joy in gardening and assembling puzzles that he would later frame. To know Charles was to know unconditional Love and generosity, for he lead his life effortlessly sharing both. Charles’ two brothers, Reginald and Vernon Adams, preceded Charles in receiving their heavenly welcome. To cherish his beautiful memories, Charles leaves: His Wife of 30 years – Mrs. Gloria M. Adams; One brother – Samuel Adams of Greensboro, NC; One special cousin whom he loved like a brother – Eugene Ebron of Greensboro, NC; Five children – Gregory Adams (Carol) of Bronx, NY, First Class Sgt.
