February 21, 2024 at 3:36 pmI worked with Chuck at the Army Corps of Engineers in Norfolk. We also had a group of guys that got together go play basketball after work in the back of our building. Chuck was in that group. All of us grew closer as friends & co workers during those games. My sincere regrets to his family. May he rest in peace.

February 21, 2024 at 6:16 pmMy deepest sympathy and condolences goes out to the entire Copeland Family. Chuck was a very dear friend and a great co-worker. I’ve known Bro. Copeland for more than 25 years. He loved talking about all -sports, music, and cars. He also loved traveling; however, most of conversations were about his beloved Philadelphia Eagles! Simply put, Chuck Copeland was a great guy and he’ll be dearly missed. May God continue to bless his family through these difficult times.

I first met Chuck in 2005,when we worked together at night for Colonial Downs Horse Racing Track. Then later on to work together for The Army Corps. Chuck was a cheerful and talkative person at the track, but later had a serious side for The Corps and did well in his position. He will be missed.

February 22, 2024 at 9:11 pmI’ll never forget the first day I met Chuck. I was a young college student participating in an internship at the Army Corps of Engineers. I went down to the warehouse to check out some computers. There was Chuck, wearing his Philadelphia Eagles hat. We quickly bonded through our love of sports and music, especially Prince. Chuck was like a big brother to me. I cherished every moment spent with him, whether it was a quick chat on the phone, us hanging out and listening to music, or us out grabbing a bite to eat. I’ll never forget our deep conversations about sports, music, travel, relationships, and life. Rest in peace Chuck. You will be missed my friend. I want to extend my deepest condolences to the Copeland family during this difficult time.

February 22, 2024 at 11:09 pmChuck was always a pleasant team mate working with us at the Norfolk District USACE. As others have mentioned, my walk in life with Chuck began as we talked about sports…yes, the Eagles were his team and he was proud of their accomplishments. Regarding our work relationship, I valued Chuck and his positive outlook and willingness to do what it took to be good at his work. I will miss him greatly. Go forth and prepare a place for us to follow, my friend.

February 23, 2024 at 6:53 pmI’m so sorry to hear about the passing of Chuck. I worked with him at the Army Corps of Engineering in Norfolk. The one thing that sticks out the most is that he would always “quietly” ask me if everything was alright. I know if he was concerned about the people he worked with, then his family was at the top of his list. Keeping you all in my warmest thoughts and praying you all are doing okay.

February 25, 2024 at 9:44 pmDamn Chuck. You never finished telling me the rest of the story. Since learning of your passing, that story keeps playing over and over again in my head. I hope I am going to wake up from this, because I can never put it behind me how great of a friend you were to me always. I have read a lot of the messages left here, and I feel like most of what so many people are saying is 100% true. That is who you are. Caring, considerate, and always giving. If I had the choice between a billion dollars vs 1 hour more with my buddy, we will be laughing hard…. and I would know the rest of the story. I am going to talk to you more than ever now. You are still the best person to know in the Corps of Engineers. Glad i got to see you again during the Conference in Norfolk. I spent this entire weekend looking at that selfie we took in Ponce.
To the Copeland family, my deepest condolences. I am still shaken by this news.

February 27, 2024 at 9:52 amI was sad to hear of Chuck’s passing so soon in his precious time on earth. We worked together for many years, including his early emergency deployments. I visited the warehouse just about every day needing Chuck’s help and he was always there willingly getting the job done. Sorry God took you early before your work was done, but there is a plan for you.
Lou Pastrana says
April 12, 2024 at 9:08 pmI was very sad and surprised when I heard the passing of my good friend and co worker Chuck this morning. I recently forwarded some of our deployment pictures from Bagram to him and wondering WHY he haven’t contacted me. He promised to visit me in Manila before I retired…. now, it will all be memories.
We really worked close and helped each other when ever I am at Norfolk District and or deployed in Afghanistan. I dropped everything that I’m doing whenever he needed assistance and he did the same to me whenever I have a work related questions. I’m sure will missed you Chuck and I’m so sorry I did not get a chance to see you for the last time. May you Rest In Peace 🙏🙏🙏 and my sincere condolence to your family.
