Charlene G. White

Sunrise: January 12, 1966

Sunset: July 24, 2018

For everything there is a season and a time for every purpose under heaven; a time to be born and a time to die. Ecclesiastes 3:1-2 It is said that there are three words in the English vocabulary that are more solemn than all others. They are life, death, and eternity. Life is more solemn that death; to live is more serious than to die, the object of Christ’s death was life. A Christian’s death gives one a more abundant life. Death is a joyful messenger of peace, whose kind hand opens to weary pilgrim the gate of immortality and lets the oppressed go free.

The message of peace opened the gate of immortality and received Charlene G. White to immortality and peace from the weariness of this life on July 24, 2018. Charlene was one of the youngest twins born to the late Mr. Louis R. Bowen and Mrs. Dorothy M. Bowen. Charlene attended Lake Taylor High School. She worked several jobs, which include The City of Norfolk for a tenure of time. She then perused a career at Norfolk Health Care. Charlene was a devoted house wife as well.
Charlene was united in Holy Matrimony to Isaac L. White on April 17, 1997.

Charlene will truly be missed for her unselfish help towards her family and friends. Her smile would always brighten a room and her laughter. She loved her grandchildren, they were her loves. Charlene is survived by her husband Isaac L. White; two sons, Lavon L. Gordon and Montrell L. Gordon, all of Norfolk; five grandchildren, Michela Pettyford, Montrell L. Gordon, Skylar Henderson, Liam Gordon, and Mekki Gordon; two brothers, Willie Holloman of Virginia Beach, VA and Lewis R. Bowen (Patricia) of Norfolk, VA; three sisters, Gloria Carney of Virginia Beach, VA, Dorothy Buffaloe of Norfolk, VA, and her twin sister Darlene Gordon of Norfolk, VA; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends.

I would like to offer my condolences to your family. I was sorry to read about the loss of your beloved family member. Death is such a painful event that it’s called an enemy in the Bible at 1 Corinthians 15:26. May the words of our loving heavenly Father bring your family comfort and strength during this most difficult time. For instance, the thought at Revelation 21:4 where God states he will wipe away every tear from our eyes and Psalm 55:22 where he says he will sustain us during difficult moments.
