On April 12, 2018, Mr Cecil E Barrett, A good man, departed to his eternal resting place after a brief illness. He was born to the late Lillie Mae Barrett, however he is still survived by his father, Waverly Barrett and a dear Step mother, Elizabeth Barrett. He was predeceased by his older brother, Waverly Jr.
Our dearly beloved was a friendly and generous guy who loved God, the church, and people. He served as a member of usher board 2 and took his job seriously. His latter years in life afforded him travel to many vacation destinations and he was an avid sports fan , with the Redskins being number one.
Cecil leaves to cherish his memory, A loving wife Yvonne Barrett, Six dedicated children, Lisa and Tanika (Marquis) of Chesapeake, Queen, of Norfolk, Mona(Curtis), Sid, and Jerald all of New Jersey. 3 stepsons, Ron(Lisa), Of Va. Beach, Colin of Florida, and Torian of Norfolk. Sixteen grand children and five great grand children. He was also blessed with twelve remaining siblings. Joan(Stafford), Darlene(Colby), of Portsmouth Va, Lillie(Nathaniel) of Chesapeake, Cynthia, William, Melvin (Theresa), Evelyn ( William), Robert (Vansa), Wendell, Beverly(Brent), Wayne(Juanita) and Antonio. All of Norfolk. and a host of other relatives and friends.
Sometimes it’s hard to understand and harder to say, thy will be done when sorrow comes our way. But faith was meant for times like these, and if we take God’s hand, he will help us to understand.
Cecil E. Barrett
